This privacy page describes how publicschool.com.au handles information as an independent guide. It is not a government privacy notice, and it is not a notice for any state or territory education department. If you are dealing with a school or a department, read that organisation’s own privacy statement. Those organisations hold enrolment files. This site does not.
What this site is designed not to hold
The guides are static public information. They explain processes and point to official finders. They do not ask for a child’s name, date of birth, address, visa status, immunisation history, or court orders. There is no parent portal, no wait-list, and no account.
Please do not paste those details into the contact form. If a message arrives with identity documents attached, the publishers’ aim is not to keep a copy for an enrolment purpose — there is no such purpose here — and you should resend a version of the question that does not include the document.
Information you choose to send
If you use the contact form, you provide a name, an email address, and a message. That correspondence is used to understand and reply to the query, including to correct a broken departmental link. It is not used to enrol a student, to build a marketing list of schools, or to create a profile of a child.
The form is delivered through a third-party form endpoint. Transport of a message always involves the systems that carry email. Do not use the form for information you would not put in an ordinary email to a small independent publisher.
If you write about a particular school, name it only if you need to, and do not include other families’ details.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site may be delivered through hosting, content-delivery and security services that log technical data such as IP address, browser type, referring URL and the pages requested. Those logs exist to operate and protect the site, not to decide a catchment. This page does not invent a retention period for a host’s logs; hosting providers publish their own terms.
If a future analytics tool is added, it should be configured so that it is not used to identify a child or to rank schools for a commercial purpose. My School content is not copied into hidden databases on this domain.
Cookies
Pages may set cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function, including any cookie a host uses for load balancing or security. There is no enrolment login, so there is no session that represents a parent account.
Links to official sites
This guide links widely to education department websites, to School Finder, Find my School, EdMap, Schools Online, ACT PEA pages, NT maps, and to My School. When you follow those links, you leave this site and the destination’s privacy rules apply. ACARA’s My School terms of use are their own document.
Requests
If you want to know what correspondence this site holds from you, or you want a contact message deleted, use the contact form without attaching documents and say so. Identity will need to match the email address used. This is a small independent operation; it is not a department with a statutory information-access unit, but it should still handle a deletion request in good faith for correspondence it actually controls.
For the limits of the editorial content itself, see disclaimer. For who publishes the site, see about.
